March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate women’s past and present accomplishments. It is a time to celebrate women and also tackle many issues we as women face in the workforce—and why not? Women should be celebrated!

March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate women’s past and present accomplishments. It is a time to celebrate women and also tackle many issues we as women face in the workforce—and why not? Women should be celebrated!

Many brands and women of influence use this time every year to partner and bring attention to women during this celebratory month.

Some brands that work with women will talk about issues women face in the workforce in an interesting and entertaining manner. A good example of a campaign that is doing just that is the one launched by tea company Pure Leaf Tea and Amy Poehler which addresses how women in the past have felt that saying “no” isn’t allowed. Well it is, as Amy underscores!

Other campaigns gather women together for a cause during this month, such as talking about equality and the LGBTQ community. Since both women and this community continually face inequality in the workforce and beyond, it is an impactful way to connect the two issues in a publicized campaign. There is also a popular, #ThankBlackWomen campaign where thanking a black women during the month of March is a meaningful way to highlight how black women have historically taken on more of the child rearing and home life than their counterpart and should be thanked. We thank you!

If you are running a brand’s marketing program and looking for ways to also launch a campaign or take advantage of Women’s History Month during the next 30-days, here are a couple of things you can do to put a campaign into motion.

Thank your own customers that are women-owned or lead. It’s important that you notice them and the work they do during this month. Call out their business and promote them on your own social accounts and in a personal emails or calls. It’s important to note their expertise and experience. Give them credit during the month of March. You should anyway, but here is a great excuse.

Another idea to promote Women’s History Month is to reach out and promote the women who work for you and with you. Talk about the issues women face today in the workforce and make a change for better equality. It’s a great way to get these issues out in the open. It’s also a great way to lead for change.

No matter what you do, make sure you are genuine about it and sincere in your outreach and promotion. Like Melinda Gates has pointed out, no matter where you are or what you do, it’s a known fact that if you are born a women, your life is harder. But that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate all the great work women past and present have done to move us toward equality in the workforce. Thank you, ladies!
